W. FREUND PATENTED AUG 1st 1876 JAN 2nd 1877" and "CAL. 45"; stamped on left lock plate "F. W. FREUND PATENTED" ; serial no. "159139" stamped on top; engraved in script on left side of lockplate "G.C." and on right lockplate is a picture of an elk; octagonal barrel check scored on top from muzzle to rear sight; plain wood, probably walnut, stock; pistol grip; hammer has an added extension to fit in slot and is lightly engraved; has a dovetail front sight and "More Light" rear sight; has a shotgun type buttplate; one shot; 2 screws on forearm.|
