Provenance this quilt was found among clothing and blanket donations by employees of the Seattle Children's Hospital Thrift Store. After finding and researching the names on the quilt, the employees decided to auction it off on the internet with the money going to the Uncompensated Care Fund. The quilt failed to reach the reserve price. The Hayes Presidential Center contacted the thrift store and purchased it (through donations) for $10,000.
